While I was waiting I found BlueScreen viewer and there seemed to be a common theme of failing on ntoskrnl.exe. I thought Shockwave was the likely culprit and my computer definitely lasted longer after a fresh install, but still crashed. The really unusual part is that after that crash I could not get SFDiagTool to work properly.
